A Day off with Dad

We are still in beach mode. Since we just came from our summer getaway.

Spending long or short walks with Dad is something we have done and remember as we grow up.

Scavenging through crafts materials a simple twine slipper came to mind. To symbolize the long and short walks with Dad.

Cut out the paper shape of the slippers

Using a twine and glue gun with glue stick to adhere each twine together.

Here is the assembled slippers.

We hope this inspired you to create something new with things you have around the house and turn it to something awesome.

Celebrating Lent

A time to grow closer to God.

We started this craft project the day after Ash Wednesday. In the spirit of Lent, this helps remind ourselves the value of repentance and looking forward to a BRIGHT Easter Sunday which symbolizes the fulfillment of a promise to us by God. 

We went through our craft stash to find materials that might inspire us. Something that is a simple symbol of prayer. We thought why not a mini rosary. A form of devotion that tells the life of Jesus and Mary through the Rosary Mysteries.  

What craft stash did we find? Some paint and some polymer clay.

The clay did take some time to dry.

We hope this inspired you to create something new with left over materials and turn it to something useable again.

"Because LOVE wounds and inflames the HEART."

Cupid in Latin Cupido means "desire". He is also known in Latin as Amore means "love". His iconography acquired the bow and arrow that represent his source of power. Who is shot by Cupid's arrow is filled with uncontrollable desire. 

So who does not want that especially from someone we really like. We have our own Love Arrows to share and we won't be shooting them but giving them away and hopefully the myth and magic to desire and love HAPPENS!

Here we are making Love Arrow. Left over craft papers and sticks we had in stock. If you guys followed our wreath project last December you wold recognize the twine we used here.

After we had so much fun doing that wood burn project on the kitchen wooden utensil we had to take out our burn tool again and do it's magic over these popsicle sticks.

Time to assemble all these and make some Love Arrows!

Here we are finally shooting Love Arrows.

Oops...we are not done yet. We need a bag for these arrows just like how cupid slings it around his body.

We have got that perfect Love Arrows to share.

This project left us LOVE STRUCK as well.

We all have that ONE PEN that makes our writing BEAUTIFUL.

Over 2016 Christmas, when we were all busy doing our shopping trips, we got these oil base sharpies just for fun. Or we just couldn't help grabbing these colorful pens. What artist could resist buying color pens anyway! At first we thought we would make some nice art on mugs. But couldn't really find nice workable mugs. So we though how about plates! We didn't think we would enjoy using these pens so much - but WE DID! Check IT OUT...

Here is the white ceramic plate we found.

One plate looks very country, another contemporary and the gold birds are a classic. 

A simple touch of creativity and imagination we have made these "cheap" white boring plates into an interesting art piece. And a conversational piece to place on our shelves. Well, now we can say this in ONE PEN that made these plates beautiful.

As always, we hope we are able to inspire you to do your own creations.

Wreath Inspiration

Something rustic. Something handmade. Something simple. Nothing new. Purely recycled.

There is just something with a WREATH hanging at the entrance of the door that just makes each home so welcoming.

A simple circular basket  ("bilao" as we call in Filipino) wrapped with random twine to fill inside the ring. The wooden "bilao" ring is then wrapped in Christmas garland (which we have used over and over every Christmas).

Decorated with simple denim ribbons and a hand-made cut out of "Ho! ho! ho!" painted in gold.

Bohemian or "Boho" Chic Inspired

Inspired with the growing trend on Boho Chic style we thought of coming up with our own Bohemian Living style project.  We scouted around our office what we can make. If you have read all our other blogs - we have lots of projects to help organize clutter. So here we are again...

A bohemian inspired tray that is a great way to contain clutter on counters and yet keep everything easily accessible. 

We had this plastic tray (plain boring tray) and a print out of a bohemian art design.

 Equipped with our gold glass paint from Martha Stewart we traced the design on to the tray by taping the print out at the back of the tray.

48 hours later when the paint has dried totally we have this chic tray which was fully transformed from drab to fab!

Got to Love this Bug!

If you ever pass by the baby section of the department store or any baby store, you might just bump into this cute red bug pod. This is a bath toy and bath accessories organizer for toddlers. But instead of using it as a bath or toy organizer we used it for our mini garden by the balcony. 

And yes! we are going to grow some lettuce!

Since our creative juices are always working we could not just plant these on regular pots! Right?! So we planted them in to this Bug Pod! We are pretty sure that after you have seen these pictures of the bug pod you will find your own creative inspiration on how to make use of this!

Here's how we were able to place the potting soil in to the scooper.

Just take some coconut liners and line them on the sides of the scooper (the red area of the bug pod). Inside or in between the liners we filled it up with potting soil. We took the lettuce sprouts (with the soil intact with the roots) and one by one plugged them in to each hole.

The bug pod will become a bit heavy as you fill it up with potting soil so you may not be able to hang it. We just kept ours on the ground and it looks both as a decorative garden ornament at the same time as a pot! All we need to do now is water this everyday and give it some sunlight.

Don't you just think this bug really needs to be in the garden and not in the bathroom?! :)

Summer Crafting just for fun

It has been 3 weeks since school is out. Kids are bored and unfortunately we are stuck in Manila due to work and can not really get out to hit the beach and just take a road trip with the kids. 

We decided to do a small "cup cake spring/summer party" at home. More like a kiddie "tea party". 

Challenge: Craft with the kids. Use whatever is at hand. Bake our own vanilla cup cakes.

(No point spending so much just for FUN!)

Voila! Here is what we came up with...

We cut and folded these fans. Then glued them on to popsicle sticks. 

And amazingly it works as a fan.

Home made Vanilla Cup cakes decorated with the same stripes as our fans. We use edible stickers for this. Easy for the kids to decorate their own cup cakes.

We had so many left over paper strips from the fans we made so we turned them into flower cut outs and glued them on to the mason jars. We couldn't resist to decorate the straw with the same stripes of paper as our fans. The only thing left is to pour the drinks in to them.

At the end of it all the kids had fun and kept them busy for 2 days!
