We just made our Christmas Tree!

As the last week of school is fast approaching for 2015 we thought it would be the best time to share some last minute Holiday Crafts. Something fun to do with the kids.
A craft project or game you can add on to your holiday parties.

We found these trees so elegant that we did not just make one, we made a bunch of them! :)
You will just need some old newspapers, bond paper (if you want a white tree) or construction paper (for a different colored tree - red, green, blue - use your creativity and bring your tree to stardom!), scissor, glue or multi-purpose tape, ruler and our christmas tree leaves template. Print the template on to your chosen paper. You will need to cut 2 stars, 40 to 45 pcs of leaves to cover a 14" tree and 1 pc white 2"x 10" rectangular tree base.
(For a 16" tree you will need about 45 to 50 pcs of leaves and an 18" tree about 65 to 70 pcs)

Make sure to prep all your materials first so you can work through this craft easily(specially if you will be doing it with the kids). Cut out the leaves, the tree base and star. Roll out the old newspaper to a cone and secure with tape or glue. We made a pretty tight cone with a narrow base to make it look tall and slender. You can do a shorter and wider base cone as well. Measure out the height of the tree (depending on how tall you want the tree cone - we made ours 14", 16" and 18") and cut the base of the cone to a straight line or if you want to use the full length of your rolled out newspaper cone you can just fold the uneven edges inside the cone. Do make sure you have a straight edge on the cone base. Attached the cut out  2"H x 10" W tree base to the cone using a glue. Cut off or fold inside the cone for any excess white paper. Now the fun part - start gluing the first row leaves where the tips are facing down to the cone (newspaper area only). Glue the leaves starting from the base. Line them up side by side and glue around the base until you complete the circle. On the second row of leaves, position the leaf in between the two leaves in the 1st row and measure 1/2 inch just above leaf base and glue to position. Continue to do this as you fill up the whole cone. When you reach the tip you will need only 3 pcs of leaves. Cut out excess to that it will fit the tip of the cone. Glue the 2 pcs of stars back to back.

There you have it a elegant looking Christmas tree for your table scape. To add some sparkle you can add glitters on to the leaves or small ornaments.

Enjoy the holidays with fun holiday crafts! And have a Merry Christmas!
