2015: Year of the Goat (Chinese New Year Card Craft)

Oh Joy! We’re welcoming the Chinese New Year with a craft! This year, we’re celebrating the year of the calm and gentle sheep/goat.

People born in the year of the sheep are tender, polite, filial, clever, and kind-hearted. What’s a better way of spreading this luck and positivity of this year than through a personal hand-made card? And we have great news! This project comes with two free templates!

For this craft, you will need the following supplies:
1. Board & Bond/Copy Paper - You will need these for the card.
2. Colored Board/Cardstock Paper - For your envelope.
3. Cutter/Scissors.
4. Glue.
5. Card Template - This can be downloaded below.
6. Envelope Template - This is also downloadable.

Now let’s start crafting!

Start by printing our template here and here, then cut everything around the red cards. You will want to print the template with the golden goat on a board, and print the one with the silhouette on a bond/copy paper.

Glue the back of the cards to each other.

After the glue has dried, start cutting the white silhouette of the goat. After cutting, score the center of the card and fold.

Now let’s make the envelope. Download the template here and follow the guides for cutting.

Once you’ve cut the template, trace it on the colored board and cut. Score lines and apply glue on the flaps, so you can fold it into an envelope.

And now you’ve made a Chinese New Year card! Feel free to print as much as you want, so you can distribute the cards to your friends and family.

We hope everyone will enjoy celebrating Chinese New Year! We're wishing you a joyous and a prosperous new year!
